The Journey Continues this summer as we make our way through the book of Acts, looking at the life of the early church. My hope is that you will find encouragement as we study how the early church lived out its faith in the midst of great successes, as well as difficult persecution. One of the things I think you will find is that people haven’t really changed that much. Moreover, I hope you see that God never changes! The same God who raised Jesus from the dead and who did mighty miracles is our God, as well. Our trust is in the one who can do “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine!” (Ephesians 3:20)
As we study through Acts this summer, I want to suggest a few things:
- Read the book of Acts for yourself. I believe it will begin to come alive for you. Pray for the Spirit to open your eyes to what he wants you to see.
- Make note of aspects of how the church handled things in a healthy way, and seek to do the same. Also, make note of when the believers didn’t respond the best, and learn from them.
- Pray that Bailey’s heart would be like that of the early church: to reach the whole world for Jesus!
- Lastly, if you have not given your life to Jesus as Lord and been baptized in Him, I want to invite you to reach out to me. I’d love for you to be numbered among those in the book of Acts who also called upon the only name, that is Jesus, by which we can be saved! (Acts 4:12)
