Welcome home! This is not just a flippant phrase thrown around here at Bailey. We really mean it! While the church is many things (e.g., the Body of Christ, the Bride of Christ, the Temple of the Holy Spirit), we believe the image of the church as the Family of God speaks especially to the cry of every human heart to be loved and accepted as part of a family. We hope everyone who walks through our doors will feel that sense of warmth and welcome and will come to know that there is a “place” for them at the “table.”
Several years ago, one of our sister churches was starting up a ministry in the inner-city of Lansing. When the lead pastor met with a local neighborhood association, one of the members spoke up and asked a very simple, but profound, question: How is this community going to be better because you are here? We think that is a question every community has the right to ask the church. How is this community going to change, be impacted, be different, be better because you are here? Or, as Jesus might put it, how are you going to be salt and light for the communities in which you live (Matthew 5:13-15)?
We believe it is the calling of the church, the Family of God, to be light in a dark world, to make a difference in a broken world. As the Kingdom of God breaks into the world around us, it leaves an impact. As lives are changed, marriages and families are restored, schools and businesses are impacted, and the world becomes a better place because the Family of God is present. We would love for you to join us on our mission to make a difference for the glory of God. Welcome home!
